Princes of Rock
by Suke

Hoi! Arigato to everyone who reviewed! And because I didn't have time to comment when I uploaded the last chapter, Suke-san is feeling particularly voluble now ^_^

Hope you liked the Atobe chapter. This chapter is the Wakato chapter, with stupid pun. Uhm, I kind of got the impression when trawling around a number of POT sites that a number of people ferociously dislike Wakato. But he really is very rock star like, neh?

Gomen, I know it's short but I'm uploading every two days... (Whiney, whiney Suke-san) Later on, I might upload everyday just to finish by Christmas. Yes, the aim is to have the concert on Christmas.

R & R!!! You know those 'Thank you for not smoking' signs? Here is a -- Thank you for Reviewing! -- so maybe you will feel guilty if you don't review hahahaha. ^_^;

Chapter two: Bending Over Backwards

-----------

Wakato Hiroshi: Natural Popstar (Dec 5, 2003, Friday -- From the Inui files)

This pop-rock singer is constantly (98%) being trailed by a bevy of female fans. He loves the spotlight. He is extremely photogenic, overwhelmingly charismatic and every paparazzo's beloved. One would almost say (98%) that he was made to be a star.

Wakato has an immense fan base and is known for his somewhat surreal bitter sweet rants on life, one of the most popular, "Is that me?" becoming a rock anthem for youth everywhere. The title of his latest album "Change Over" has also been taken up as a war cry by his fans the world over.

His beginnings in the music industry are well-documented as Wakato wastes no time in sharing how his demo tapes were continuously returned with rejections because he sounded too much like another singer. However, Wakato kept to mimesis thanks to the support from his agent, Kajimoto, until one day, he developed a completely unique sound that was entirely his own music. From then on, his records were swept off the shelves instantly and he has since then become one of the best-selling music acts ever.

----------

"Wakato!"

"Hiroshi!"

"Wakato!"

"Hiroshi!"

The boy waved at his fans from the eighth floor balcony of his hotel room, running a hand through his brilliant tangerine hair and striking a pose almost automatically to frantic screams. After all, he was often known as the only person in the business who could posture like a boyband member and still be taken seriously as a rock musician. Granted that his leanings were pop, Wakato's style was uncompromisingly beautiful. He was far from cheesy.

Wakato posed in repose.

Wakato was also probably the only rock star who had fans that practised synchronised cheering. He waved at the largely female crowd below before sauntering back into his room, sliding the glass door shut behind him.

He paused a moment at the immense silence that washed over him at once and then offered his companion a lazy smile. Kajimoto did not smile back, was not fooled by the flippant personality presented to him.

"You should get some sleep," Kajimoto informed his client.

"Honestly, Kajimoto-san, I'm fine. It's only ten o'clock." Wakato turned a sparkling grin towards him. "And we just ordered dinner from room service too."

"You were up late last night practising again," Kajimoto stated. "And room service should take at least thirty minutes. Nap a while. I'll wake you up."

Wakato grinned again, slightly abashed this time. He couldn't help but suspect that his agent had planted some kind of device on him to keep tabs. Kajimoto always seemed to know everything about him.

"I'm fine," Wakato repeated. "I just want to go through this song a bit more before it goes to the studio. It's not quite perfect yet."

The brown-haired boy only kept quiet, fingering the silver loop in his left ear.

Wakato would be Wakato, a wild confusion of contradictions. Wakato was cheerful, always cheerful and foolish and charming and playful. He exulted in the limelight, in revealing his brilliant self to others. And he was also serious, always serious and proud and callous and hard at work. Wakato wasn't serious enough but he did it seriously. He charmed everyone and insulted everyone else. He always wanted to play but he also worked too hard.

"Go to sleep," Kajimoto's tone was harder this time, accepting no argument. "I'll extend the dateline for you."

"Can you do that?" Wakato sounded hopeful and his eyes lit up. He really was very tired.

"Of course I can," Kajimoto said smoothly, helping to tuck his client and friend beneath the covers.

He walked over to the switches and dimmed the lights. The recording company was sure to complain at the dateline extension. They would grumble and pull out the contracts and call their lawyers but their lawyers would advise against tangling with Kajimoto.

Kajimoto was a very successful agent. He had his very own talent seeking agency and personally took on only very special artistes but, that said, he would bend over backwards to serve every one of his clients.

And Wakato was very, very special.

How Flexible? (Dec 6, 2003, Saturday -- Great Reporter Inui)

Some furore broke out yesterday at the Cape Meridien, one of the most expensive hotels in Tokyo, when it was discovered that superstar Wakato Hiroshi had arranged to stay there throughout the preparations for the Christmas concert. Fans flocked to crowd the lobby of the hotel and stand beneath the singer's balcony waving banners and posters. Many tried to get rooms in the hotel so that they could access the restricted higher floors.

One group of teenaged girls almost (76%) managed to gain access to the room where the singer was located pretending to be room service with Wakato's dinner. Fortunately, the artiste's agent, Kajimoto, was in the room as well and managed to shut the door on them when he realised something was wrong.

There are some rumours travelling the internet as well about the nature of the relationship between the agent and the singer since both are known to share rooms. These rumours are unlikely (23%) to be true as Wakato Hiroshi has long been known to have on-again off-again relationships with several female actresses and singers. It is not known if he bends both ways.

The singer's address had inadvertently been released by a radio station which was granted an interview with the star just hours earlier in his hotel room. Kajimoto has advised the station that he will sue. The two sides are currently in talks with the radio station sounding hopeful. A spokes man for the station has commented that "I'm sure we can sort things out quickly. Kajimoto-san is very flexible."
