Tennis no Ohjisama Halloween Special!
by Suke

2. There's something About Her

First, I want to apologise for the initial lack of warning about yaoi for this fic. Thank you so much Yami no Tenshi for bringing it to my attention. Gomen but I wrote the warning at the end of the fic description and I didn't realise that it was cut off because the description was too long. Sumimasen, sumimasen, gomenasai!

And, well, actually no two of the reviews agreed on the pairing so I'm going with my original pairing. I kind of even considered writing alternate continuations, including a non-yaoi one ^_^ But since this is just the third fanfic I'm ever writing, I'm still stuck on traditional pairings but I will explore others soon.

Personal notes at end.

Instalment two of three: 'She' Appears

*****

A sudden hush descended on the room and all eyes turned to look at the girl who had just appeared at the top of the staircase. She was surrounded by three regulars of the Seigaku tennis team, small and extremely cute. She also looked a bit sulky but that only added to her cuteness.

"Aa, is that Fuji-san's girlfriend. She's very cute. I'm so jealous," Shinji was talking to himself again. "Well, no, I guess I'm not really jealous. She looks like the high-maintenance type and a bit spoilt too. And anyway, I already have buchou..."

"Oi! Do you know her, Yuuta? Is she your brother's friend dane? Do you think she will go on a date with me dane?" Hasegawa hounded a strangely silent Yuuta.

"Yuuta-gen, have you been unfaithful to me?"

Yuuta winced at Mizuki's suspicious glower but remained silent still. The words wouldn't leave his mouth. How could that arrogant, stuck-up chibi Echizen Ryoma be so cute?

Kamio started when he heard a sharp slap just on his left. A few more slaps followed from different points of the room, denoting the number of boyfriends who showed just a little too much enthusiasm for the cute girl. Oh no, Kamio had been staring quite a bit too, what if Ann-chan... Kamio turned hesitantly towards the spunky girl beside him.

"Oh, she's so cute! I wonder who she is! I should go and make friends with her!" Ann-chan had stars in her eyes.

Kamio began to grow stars in his eyes too as he looked at Ann-chan, that other girl on the stairs completely forgotten. That's why his Ann-chan was the best.

Inui scribbled furiously in his notebook. So much data here! And Fuji hadn't warned him about this development. Hmm, Taka-san was staring. There was nothing very interesting in that.

But Kaidoh! The adorable mamushi was, well, blushing at the extreme display of cuteness before him. He wanted to pat her head!

"She's very cute I suppose," Ooshitari said, his voice placating.

"Yes, yes, we all know that but who's cuter?" Gakuto pouted at the calm face of his double's partner. "Her, or me?"

"Obviously, she's cuter," Atobe Keigo cut in. "And there's only one guy in this room goodlooking enough for her." -- he continued, of course meaning himself. "Isn't that right, Kabaji?"

"Uies," the butler responded immediately.

"That's not true! It's not true, is it?" Gakuto was getting more and more worked up. "Aren't I cuter?"

Of course you are, Ooshitari thought with a secret smile playing on his lips, but you're even cuter when you're grumpy.

Tezuka also found it hard to believe that his kouhai looked so different as a girl. Fuji had told him about their plan and he had pretended not to notice. He was sure that the others with him had no idea that it was Ryoma. Tezuka stared at the amazing transformation. Ryoma was such a cute girl!

And then, Tezuka suddenly noticed Fuji's eyes on him. The tensai did not look displeased. His smile was as cheerful as always but it was also far more evil than usual. Tezuka quickly looked away from Ryoma, suppressing a shiver. Fuji was a bit on the possessive side.

*****

"What a bunch of idiots!" Echizen muttered to himself as he tried to thread through the crowd of adoring fanboys pressing for a dance with him.

A little further away, he could see Hyotei's Atobe Keigo getting ready to approach him too. He groaned. That one would take some convincing. But then, Atobe was looking rather good tonight. No! What was he thinking? Atobe was a narcissistic pompous idiot!

Why was it that all it took was a cute girl to reduce a high school boy into a mound of incomprehensible gibberish? They were just like his idiot sempai! How could Momo-sempai get so flustered just because Ann-chan was around?

Ryoma glanced around for that particular spiky-haired Sempai. Not seeing him, he looked to make sure that Momo wasn't anywhere in the vicinity of Ann-chan. No, the cute girl was surrounded by a throng of admirers being bravely fended off by Kamio, but no one tall enough to be Momo-sempai was among them.

Not that Ryoma cared who Momo-sempai liked! It was just that it was so embarrassing to be with Momo when he got all worked up by a girl. Ryoma didn't care at all. But where in the world was his idiot sempai anyway?

Echizen was trying to get to the other side of the room to look for his sempai when someone touched him on the shoulder. Sure that it was Atobe, Ryoma spun around, ready to give the Hyotei captain a fierce glare and a few disparaging words -- that should cut him down to size *smirk* -- when his voice caught in his throat.

It was not Atobe. Instead it was this incredibly gorgeous vision in long black cape and knee high boots.

Similar to Atobe, his shirt was not completely laced, revealing a disturbing expanse of smooth tanned skin. The vision wore jeans that were sufficiently dark to be taken for pants and that were sufficiently tight to make Ryoma swallow. They hung low, straddling his lean hips.

His black hair was longish, brushing his nape and partly obscuring the strangely violet eyes. His mask was across only his eyes and the rest of the high-cheekboned, tanned face was uncovered. The lips were twisted in a half-smile.

"Dance with me?" Ryoma felt his insides wrench under the force of the charm directed at him.

"H - hai," Ryoma barely whispered, careful to keep his voice a notch higher than usual. He had decided to do this beforehand because he would rather die than have anyone else know he was dressed as a girl.

Ryoma found himself swept into warm arms, against the lean toned body of the taller boy. It was so cheesy for him to think it but at that moment, his hand on a perfect body and another's hand at his waist, his forehead resting on a wide shoulder and another's cheek pressed so close to his and another's warm, sweet breath on his neck, Ryoma was sure that he was in heaven.

Ryoma allowed himself to relax and slide his hand up into the silky black hair of his dancing partner.

It was perfect and he never wanted it to end.

*****

It was perfect and he never wanted it to end.

Momoshiro Takeshi had entered Fuji's living room, ready to do a hundred different things. After all, Momo liked to have fun. He was often the life of the party.

He was going to trash Fuji's little brother and everyone else at the Playstation game he had heard from the hallway. He had played through all the levels of that game already at least twice!

Then, he was going to make fun of that baka mamushi and his costume, whatever costume he might have chosen to wear. Of course, he would have to eat lots and lots of food. He was a growing boy and Momoshiro was sure that the catering, if it were planned by Fuji, would be great. And he would go find Ann-chan who was sure to be looking really cute -- just to annoy Kamio. And, of course, he was going to make fun of Echizen too and see his little kouhai get angrier and angrier, and cuter and cuter.

And then, he saw her.

She was a small girl in a white mask and a flurry of pinks and peaches. He wasn't sure what she was supposed to be dressed as but then, he didn't really stop to think about it. Momoshiro only noticed that she was so extremely kawai! He didn't even have time to stop to think about what he was doing before he found himself right in front of her and asking her to dance.

Of course, it wouldn't be right, or romantic, to say that Momoshiro was completely entranced by the girl only because she was cute.

Momo was not exactly a ladies man. He liked people to like him and he wasn't completely against doing or saying silly things to make others smile. In fact, it often was the case that he found himself speaking before he thought. Not that it mattered. Momo wasn't in the habit of letting such things bother him very much.

Anyway, Momo wasn't the kind of guy who knew how to make girls fall in love with him. He was goodlooking, it was true, but mostly, he felt kind of uncomfortable with girls. He never really knew what they wanted or why they did the things that they did.

But suddenly, here, in his arms was a girl Momo felt he really knew. There was something about her that was so familiar and so right.

Momo had taken some pains not to be recognised today. There was a trick that he had wanted to play on Echizen. Momo had purposely not spiked his hair and he was sure that, with the mask and unusual clothing, he looked dramatically different from his normal self.

But when Momo had entered the room, and he had looked at the girl and she had looked at him, there seemed to be a kind of recognition in her eyes. It was as though she, a stranger, knew who he was through and through the way no one else knew him. She recognised who he was.

Momo held her gently in his arms. Perhaps, this was what they meant by love at first sight. Perhaps, this was what it was to finally find "The One". Whatever it was, Momoshiro Takeshi was sure of one thing: he would never, never let her go.

*****

The music had stopped. They were standing on the dance floor amidst couples, some still dancing, caught up in their own worlds where their own music played on, others were cuddling or whispering soft words of love to each other.

Ryoma could see Oishi-sempai and Kikumaru-sempai from the corner of his eye. Kikumaru-sempai had both arms around Oishi-sempai's neck, his head of wild red hair resting on Oishi's shoulder. Oishi leaned forward, towards his doubles partner, eyes full of meaning.

"Che," Echizen muttered under his breath. Another couple had moved to block his view. When they finally moved off, Kikumaru-sempai was blushing but beaming.

Those two were not shy about their relationship. They did not hide their affection from others the way Tezuka and Fuji did. Ryoma wasn't sure if he was supposed to be disgusted at such relationships. He didn't really feel disgusted. He didn't really feel anything special about them at all. After all, he wasn't the one in a relationship with them.

And then, Ryoma suddenly became aware again of his dance partner looking at him with his curious violet eyes. The boy leaned forward towards him, and Ryoma knew that the boy was going to kiss him.
