Jirou generally appears throughout Prince of Tennis as the guy who is always sleeping. It appears that this is where all of his energy on the courts comes from. When he is playing, Jirou only gets serious when his opponent is exciting to him (in other words, if they are strong). He defeated Fuji Syusuke's younger brother Yuuta in under 15 minutes (which later brought repercussions to him in the form of Fuji). He was also defeated by Kaido in a practice match against Seigaku.
